Windass predicts goals

New signing Dean Windass has confidently predicted that he can get goals for the club. The 39 year old scored 15 goals last season, including the famous winner in the play-off final which took Hull City to the top flight for the first time in their history.

He told the official Latics website, "I spoke to John Sheridan as well as a couple of other clubs. I want to play regular football, I want to enjoy myself and I want to score as many goals as I can. Oldham are in a very good position and I hope I can improve them. I only live 45 minutes away, and I've been travelling to Hull for the last two and a half years. I'm towards the end of my career and I want to enjoy my football without having to travel so far. Oldham are sitting fifth in the league and I think we have a great chance of getting up to the Championship. We have some good players here. I already know people like Mark Crossley and Sean Gregan, and that was a big factor in me coming here as well."

"You know what you're going to get from me, and that's 110% every time I pull on the shirt. I will guarantee you goals if the service comes around, and I'm a team player who will try to help the younger lads in the squad. I want to enjoy my football and play with a smile on my face. I wasn't going to play on Saturday because Darren Byfield was still here, but now he's gone back to Doncaster. I was supposed to be either in the stands watching the game or on the bench, but now I'm looking forward to tomorrow night. Hopefully we can get off to a good start."
