Athletic have completed the signing of midfielder Neil Wood and he has agreed to a two year contract at Boundary Park. After some impressive displays in his initial trial period, manager John Sheridan set about making Wood a permanent fixture.

A delighted Wood told the official site, "I'm delighted to be here and I've settled in well. All the lads are very friendly, and there are no cliques, like the ones you find at some clubs. I've got a lot of respect for John Sheridan. After all, he has played at the highest level in England, and in two World Cups. As a manager, he stamps his mark on his teams' style of play, and I'm sure he'll do well. I trained at Blackpool for a week during the close season, but I ended up rejecting their offer. Now I'm delighted to be an Oldham Athletic player. I'm the kind of midfielder that likes to get the ball down and play, and I know the manager likes to play that kind of football, so hopefully my style will complement that."
