Wright comments on Lee signing

Assistant manager Tommy Wright believes Athletic are on the right track this season and have learned that a larger squad is a must. After signing Kieran Lee he told Latics World, "Kieran is obviously a good footballer as he's come from the Manchester United system. He knows how to take care of the ball and most importantly he can play in a number of positions. I'm sure he'll be a good player for us. That versatility is important, because we struggled with the size of the squad last year and young players had to come in and do well, which they did. But this time we want a bigger squad in order that we're covered if injuries and suspensions do arise. We couldn't cope last year and that let us down."

"We might sign a couple of players late on, but the main thing is we get good players at this club. We want to make the squad bigger and give the younger players some help. That doesn't mean the younger ones won't be playing, those who are playing well will be playing. It doesn't matter if a player is 18 or 38. If he's good enough he will be picked and will play. We've got one or two things in the pipeline and we're talking to people at the moment. The owners are helping us as much as they can and we're all pulling together. Hopefully it will be good season for Oldham."
