Wright looking for success at Fleetwood

Assistant boss Tommy Wright believes the Latics can cause an upset with their visit to Fleetwood Town on Saturday. Looking for their first points, the Latics take on a team who have lost just once. Wright said, “I watched Fleetwood a lot last season and the one thing I noticed they were very organised and very difficult to beat. They were very structured in how they played, disciplined, didn’t concede a lot so it will be a tough game. They are all tough games but we feel we have the ability to cause them trouble. Craig Davies played well last week, Doyle played well, the two strikers looked lively and gave them lots of trouble and hopefully they can carry it on to Saturday and cause Fleetwood some trouble.”

With the return of Ryan McLaughlin and Cameron Dummigan from international duty Wright updated the injury situation. He continued, “They are all progressing well. Tope Obadeyi will start training next week, Flynn a week away, Green a couple of weeks, so they’re progressing. Duffus came in one day and had a bit of an infection, he didn’t feel well, the doctor diagnosed it was pleurisy. We sent him to a specialist and he found he had fluid on his lungs, which was quite serious. He was in hospital for three or four days, had that drained and he’s out of hospital now. Hopefully he can kick on. He started so well at Accrington, everybody saw how well he did, then he got this illness and it has set him back, but I can assure the Oldham fans that he will be a big asset to the club.”

“I’ve been in this situation a few times and everybody needs to stay patient. We feel we have got good players but we just need to gel a bit better. Obviously there has been a lot of talk about the takeover but that shouldn’t be a distraction. Once you cross the line, you’ve got a job to do as an individual and as a team. As I say, I’ve got faith. I can assure the fans we will still keep working hard, the players are working hard, we just need to brush up on one or two things and we could easily go on a run of winning four or five games. Things can change quickly, the fans just need to keep faith in the team, the manager and the coaching staff with what’s happening and we will be okay.”
