Young Striker Signs

Bury striker Chris Porter has joined the Latics. Porter is 21 and scored 20 goals in 50 appearances for the Shakers last season. Bury are asking for a fee for the lanky (6’-1”) youngster but a disagreement between the two clubs means that a tribunal may have to decide the final outcome.

Porter told the official site, “I can't wait for the challenge. I'm really looking forward to the new season with Oldham Athletic. There was a bit of interest in me made by my agent, then when I found out that I might have the chance of moving to Boundary Park, I just had to keep my fingers crossed. Thankfully it has worked out for the best. I have played here with Bury reserves and we got beat but I have never played first team football here."

"My main objective is to secure my place in the starting 11. After that I'm hoping my pace and ball control will give me the edge I need for the step up to league one football. I hope to become a valued member of Ronnie Moore's squad. Basically get in the first team and score a lot of goals.”
