Your Club Needs You

Simon Blitz has spoken ahead of tonight's planning meeting and is urging as many Latics fans as possible to turn up and show solidarity with the clubs ideas for the future. The Council's planning committee will consider the club's revised planning application at the meeting which starts at 6pm.

Mr. Blitz gave the following statement to the official Latics website: "This will be the club's biggest night for many years, and I hope the plans go through so we can move ahead with our hopes and with our dreams. The fans make all the difference. I'd like to thank them for their support so far, and we need them to show in numbers tomorrow. It's probable that not everyone will get in, but even the people outside can help to hopefully push the planning people the way we want to go."

"The decision was made last time and we had to go with that, but we've re-jigged it and hopefully the committee will approve what we want to do. This development will provide regeneration for the town, conference and banqueting space, a hotel, and housing which we know we need. Maybe not all the information was available last time, but now it is available hopefully they will make the right decision."

Mr Blitz also pledged that, if outline planning permission is granted, the Latics team will continue and extend their consultation with local residents, adding: "One hundred per cent. Nothing is black and white, and we will look to consult with the neighbours and the local community to make sure what we build, and the way we build it, is what the community needs."

Anyone with any interest in seeing Oldham Athletic move ahead and secure a longtime future in the town is urged to get to the meeting. It is important! Get there tonight.
