Three second half goals saw off the Latics after a poor display at Bristol City. Their performance was undisciplined as they collected six yellow cards and had Julien Baudet sent off.

Wadsworth decided that Lee Duxbury should be protected and he was replaced by Dean Holden at the break. This was to become a turning point as he was cautioned after his first tackle. The resulting free kick brought Bristol their first goal when Peacock volleyed a right-footer. Baudet then saw red following a foul and the resulting penalty put Bristol two up.

Lever killed the Latics with a third goal from a set piece. Athletics best chances fell to Reeves who went close to the angle and David Beharall (pictured) who got in a header which was blocked on the line. All in all a bad day at the office which must be put right in the game against Tranmere.
