It looked like Martyn Forrest's first goal for Bury was going to be the match-winner until Cristian Colusso salvaged a point in the dying seconds at Gigg Lane. The point keeps the Latics play off hopes alive.

Forrest opened the scoring in the 14th. minute when he struck home a corner but Athletic could have equalised before half time as Clegg, Corazzin and Smart all missed good chances. Athletic still struggled to penetrate in the second half and had Gary Kelly to thank for keeping the scoreline at 1-0, one save in particular from Reid was world class.

Colusso (pictured) replaced Stuart Balmer in the 74th minute and how it paid off! Andy Preece had his usual rant over the officiating as the referee repeatedly punished the Shakers with a succession of free kicks against them
and he did miss a blatant bit of shirt-pulling from Chris Armstrong. The final free kick two minutes into injury time became decisive as Colusso hit the equaliser. It delighted the 3,000 plus travelling army fans who once again witnessed a late goal, something of a trait in these games.

Wadsworth said, “Cristian got us out of the mire with a wonderful piece of skill. He's a great technician and he's always liable to get us a free-kick because
of his skill. I really feel we deserved something out of the game, although at one point it looked as though it might have been a disaster.” Athletic remain in sixth spot in the table.
