David Dunn was satisfied with his side's 0-0 derby draw at Rochdale on Saturday. With few chances at either end the teams negated each other to take a share of the spoils. James Wilson squandered the best opportunity for the Latics to score.
Dunn admitted, “I’m disappointed we couldn’t score a goal but I think overall I don’t think we can underestimate coming here and getting a point. When we look back at the end of the season, you can’t underestimate this, especially in a local derby. I’m a bit disappointed with how we were with the ball but Rochdale still make it hard. Keith’s teams have always played with a high press and they make it difficult for you. I thought with a bit more luck and a bit more clinical finishing we might have nicked one but today weren’t the day. I think that’s the first clean sheet we’ve had for a while. It’s pleasing to get one, especially for the back lads as we’ve not had one in a while but going forward I thought we could have done a bit better.”
“Jones has hurt his ankle and he was struggling. Looking back, that killed us a little bit. If we don’t have to make that forced sub at that time, we could have brought Ricardo on at the end when we were in the ascendancy. I thought we finished pretty strong and we looked like we might nick one so if we had the option of another sub, it might have been a benefit to us but we didn’t.”
“I thought the 3,000 Latics fans were fantastic. They are very dedicated to the club and all the players and certainly myself appreciate them turning out. Although they will go home without a win, there are a lot of worser places to get a point.”
