Athletic were lucky to come away from Exeter with a point and they owe a big debt to goalkeeper Dean Brill (pictured) who made a last-minute penalty save earned the Latics their point. Exeter scored their goal from a penalty brought about by Reuben Hazell who also conceded the last minute one. Almost 400 Latics fans made the long trip but didn't really have much to shout about.

Brill commented, "Keepers receive acclaims for things like that, but the heroes are the 11, 12, 13 players who stuck together to get a point. The lads showed a great togetherness to come from behind, something we haven't often done this season as it was a tough game. The way he shaped up to take the first one, I didn't think there was any way he could some back across the goal so I don't know why I didn't go to my left. I have not had to face many penalties in my career, but I would like to back myself to save them, though it is a 50/50 call."
