Stephen Robinson could do nothing but praise his team for the win at Gillingham on Saturday. After going behind, Freddie Ladapo broke his duck for the team with a well taken goal soon after coming on as a substitute. Ryan Flynn put the final nail in the Gills coffin when he scored a last minute winner to lifted the Latics off the foot of the table.

Robinson commented, “I thought it was going to be another frustrating day but the lads dug in and showed superb character. We went 1-0 down from an individual mistake and Brian held his hands up but he showed great character to get back in the game and he was superb this afternoon. I thought we deserved to win and had we have scored four of five goals I don’t think anybody would have said it was an injustice. I think they only had a claim for a penalty and we had a claim on Freddie as well but I think we thoroughly deserved it and the boys showed super character.”

“Freddie took his goal well and he came on and gave us a little bit of life. We’ve got options now and the strikers have started scoring goals so hopefully the chances we are creating, we deserve to be further up the table. Ryan Flynn deserved his winner and has been excellent the last three or four games. He’s set his stall out now and he’s been very good. He’s getting an understanding with Paul Green and Ousmane Fane so I was delighted he got the winner.”
