Gillingham 1 Oldham Athletic 0

The Latics were frustrated by a lack of goals yet again and came away from Gillingham with nothing other than cold and wet players. The Gills scored the only goal of the game in the second half from a controversial penalty which was awarded after Sean Gregan (pictured) had tussled with Febian Brandy. Reuben Hazell was lucky to remain on the field after a late professional foul on Weston who was clean through in the box but on the other hand, Athletic had what appeared to be a clean cut penalty turned down after Nick Blackman was chopped down in the Gillingham penalty box.

The game was a dull affair played in appalling conditions and only two real chances were created in the first half. Blackman headed Lee Hills' cross just wide and an incident in Athletic's area saw Weston hit the crossbar. In the second half a header from Hazell was unlucky to land on the roof of the net. Other than the penalty, that was the end of the excitement in this dour game.
