Blackpool manager Steve McMahon paid tribute to loan star Neil Danns after the midfielder inspired a fighting comeback at Boundary park.

Danns, who has been borrowed from Blackburn, scored from fully 35 yards and showed enough quality to suggest a permanent move would boost McMahon's planned bid for promotion.

McMahon said: "You will struggle to see a better goal in this division or even the Premiership and it shows what the lad can do.

"He is only here for a month at the moment but we would like to keep him and I will try to do something about it in the next week or so." Struggling Oldham scored first and last but events in between left manager Iain Dowie a worried man.

The club went into administration early this week and the chances of Dowie improving his wafer thin squad are out of his hands.

He said: "I am hoping the administrators will allow me to bring people in because we desperately need some more established players.

"We are asking young lads to do men's jobs and that's very difficult. We are playing fine going forward and creating chances isn't a problem but defensively we are no where near where we should be." It took Oldham just 53 seconds to go in front as John Eyre made headway into the box and fired across goalkeeper Lee Jones into the far corner from 16 yards.

But Eyre limped off later and his side continued to spurn chances while giving them away at the other end.

Blackpool eventually levelled after 55 minutes when Danns chanced his arm and hit a glorious drive into the top corner.

Fellow Blackburn player Jonathon Douglas followed up from 20 yards 14 minutes later and Blackpool were on course for a second league win out of three.

They finished off the home side when Scott Taylor ran through one on one and picked his spot from 16 yards past Les Pogliacomi.

Oldham's injury time effort was drilled in from a tricky angle by Mickael Antoine-Curier, who has now scored three in three starts since joining on trial.
