The Latics visit to Kenilworth Road enden in a well earned 1-1 draw but kept Luton out of the play-offs as well as leaving the Latics still in danger of relegation. Luton did the early pressing but the visitors took a surprise lead in the 33rd. minute when Dean Crowe's speculative cross come shot sailed into the far corner. The joy was short lived though as a minute later Brkovic put a cross in from the left and Showunmi nodded home the equaliser. The Latics thought they had won it in time added on when Jermain Johnson put in Crowe, but the referee blew for the end of the game.

Brian Talbot commented, “I was disappointed that they scored so quickly and disappointed that we conceded but I thought that overall we worked hard. We battled them and in the finish we could have won it. I would say that we had the best chance of the game, late on, JJ made it with his pace and Dean Crowe's first touch let him down as he pulled it across the 'keeper. But overall I can't complain about anything. I thought the effort was there, the committment was there and I couldn't ask any more from the players."

"We worked hard this week in training. Obviously it was the first game last week where my defence hadn't played well so it was a new experience for me. People have said to me since then that it has been happening a lot this season but I had to see it with my own eyes. So we have worked hard to make amends for that and to make sure that we didn't concede as many goals in one game again. Hopefully in the next 7 games, we can have as solid a performance as we have had today. It's still very tight at the bottom. I think if we're being honest then it will go to the last game of the season, unfortunately. Since I've taken over our away performances have been first class. The problems has been at home. We have the responsibility to win the game and we haven't been able to do that. It is something that I have got to have a look at."
