Latics fumbled their way to a 0-0 home draw with Charlton Athletic, who were reduced to ten men in the first half. It was the same old story of the Latics being unable to find the net.

Manager Paul Dickov commented, “I am disappointed and frustrated because I know we should have picked up three points, even though we are unbeaten in three and it is three clean sheets in a row. Nobody could question the effort they put in, but little things let us down like the footballing decisions we made when we were on the ball. As long as we learn from it, though, we will be alright. We had some good delivery into the box. but their defenders possibly had more desire to get on the end of our crossed than our forward players, though I thought our front two were excellent.”

“Their keeper made a couple of good saves and a few efforts went just wide. We put in a lot of crosses but they camped out in their box and made life difficult for us. I think the frustration we all felt went on to the players in the second half and they started to take too many touches which gave Charlton time to get set up defensively. We needed to move the ball quicker, especially with having an extra man.”
