The Latics inflicted QPR's first defeat in six games in the final encounter of the season at Boundary Park. They could have taken an early lead but Julien Baudet (pictured) shot over the bar after some good build up play from
Cristian Colusso. Baudet made amends in the 10th. minute when Fitz Hall pulled the ball back from the dead ball line and Baudet made no mistake as he fired home his first ever goal for Athletic.

QPR fought back strongly but Palmer volleyed wide, Griffiths had a shot kicked off the line by Chris Armstrong and David Miskelly tipped a shot from Peacock wide to preserve Athletics slender lead. Trainee Adam Griffin was given his league debut and he did enough to suggest he could have a future in the game.

Wadsworth said: “I wanted us to reach 70 points and we have managed to do that eventually. I'm very optimistic about next season because there are some
quality players at this club and they are learning all the time.”
