The Latics made it eight game without defeat with a creditable point at Peterborough. Dowie was forced to make changes with Dean Holden suspended and David Eyres, Paul Murray and Calvin Zola all out injured. Oldham took the lead after a John Sheridan cross was rifled home by Ernie Cooksey (pictured) but Posh equalised in the 20th. minute through McKenzie. In the second half McKenzie hit his second, but that man Sheridan again equalised through a penalty after Boshell was upended in the box. On the black side, Chris Killen was sent off for a second yellow card.

After the match Iain Dowie commented, “A point won, In terms of the way we played that was nowhere near the standards we have set ourselves We didn't move the ball well and didn't defend with any conviction which is very disappointing. Yes we had some changes and if you'd have told me we'd have a 16 year old on the pitch at the end, Dave Beharall in his first game back, losing Murray, Eyres, Zola and Holden in one week then we'd settle for a point. Maybe we had the best chance of the match at the end to win it but it would have been harsh on Barry Fry's side if we had taken all three points. If anything we were probably a trifle fortunate to get a point.”
