Wycombe Wanderers 2 Oldham Athletic 1

In a typical end of season game at Adams Park Wycombe took the lead after only three minutes when a corner was flicked on and Devine headed home. Not the start that Mick Wadsworth was looking for!

The Latics fought back and Dele Adebola posed a few problems but they went 2-0 down after 15 minutes when Lee Duxbury chopped down Rammell and the referee awarded a penalty. Miskelly was unlucky but Brown just got enough on
the ball to beat him. Paul Murray and Fitz Hall went close before Miskelly had to be alert again to push a Devine shot wide in the 42nd. minute.

The second half substitutions were Smart (pictured) for Adebola, Baudet for
Duxbury and Colusso for Eyres and after 78 minutes Athletic pulled one back under extraordinary circumstances when the referee awarded a penalty against Rammell. Smart converted the spot kick to set up a nailbiting final few minutes for the Wycombe fans.

A Smart header in the 86th. minute was the closest that Athletic came to an equaliser and he was unlucky as he saw Taylor scoop the ball away from the line. The result means that Athletic finish the season in 9th. place whatever the result is against QPR on the last day. Roll on next season.
