Baudet to miss five games

Julien Baudet, who was sent off at Wycombe, will miss 5 matches through suspension and could face a fine from the club. Just before half-time he was struck in the face and the referee did nothing. This incensed Baudet so much that he was still seething at the start of the second half and he dived into a poor challenge and received a red card for his actions. He will miss the Cardiff (A), Plymouth (H), Stockport County (A), Notts County (H) and Mansfield Town (A) games.

Iain Dowie was disappointed with the Frenchman’s lack of control and said, “I didn’t really see the tackle so I can’t say too much, but I’ll pull him in if I don’t like what I watch on video. If Julien has made a silly challenge, he will be told in no uncertain terms — you have to keep your head no matter what the provocation. He had to control himself after what happened at the end of the first half and I can throw the book at players if I choose to. I’ll watch it again and make a decision, but what I know for sure is that the game was affected by refereeing madness."

"The Wycombe player elbowed Julien, there’s no two ways about it because he came off at half-time with a bloody nose. An arm was swung and it hit him in the face — if Les Pogliacomi elbowed someone against Brentford on Tuesday, then this was more like assault. The linesman saw it and the fourth official saw it, but everybody pleaded dumb and the referee (Clive Penton) did all he could to get Wycombe back in the game. Although I’ve no complaints about their penalty, there will be a lot of complaints about other decisions because hardly anything went our way."

"But I don’t just want to talk about officials after the lads have shown so much heart and soul to win a point. This is a great result in the circumstances and they deserve a lot of praise, as do the fans for being fantastic again. Our movement in the first half could have brought more goals and when we went down to 10 men we still gave Wycombe very few chances. I reminded the lads
about some comments made by Lawrie Sanchez when they won at our place earlier this season and maybe that helped to fire us up."

"I’m delighted for Tony Carss, who is always a handful, but it would have been a travesty if we had taken nothing from the game. The three centre-backs were majestic and, although I don’t like singling people out, Paul Murray was a revelation. It’s always disappointing not to win when you’ve been so much on top, but we had to go to 4-4-1 to keep ourselves in it and then push Fitz Hall up front. I was half-tempted to leave him there when Carssy scored, but discretion is the better part of valour.”
