Beckett deal at advanced stage

Luke Beckett’s loan deal runs out next month but the Latics have not given up hope of bringing him to Boundary Park on a more permanent deal. Beckett is on loan from Sheffield United but his first team options have been severely limited and his success at Oldham has made him confess that he would be willing to drop into League One if a suitable deal could be arranged.

Talks are at an advanced stage and it is thought that he is ready to pen a two year contract which would result in the Latics getting him on a free transfer. The signing would be a major boost to next season’s promotion plan and shows the committment of the new owners to bring success to the club.
