Brawl to haunt Latics?

Athletic’s brawl at Colchester could come back to haunt them as the FA are alleging that both teams “failed to conduct themselves in an orderly fashion when they failed to refrain from violent and/or threatening and/or provocative behaviour”. The Latics had Clint Hill dismissed from the game and Clyde Wijnhard was booked. If found guilty they could face a heavy fine which would hit them hard. After the Blackburn Rovers game last season they ended up with a £2,000 fine and a warning as to future conduct.

Alan Hardy said, “I’m shocked that we find ourselves in a situation like this so long after the event. I’ve no idea why it should be the case and I’m also surprised we face any charge at all. I thought the referee dealt with things as they occurred so that would be the end of the matter.” Athletic will appeal and use video evidence to back up their case.
