Butcher has to return but Moore not happy

Richard Butcher has been publicly slated by his manager who said that he has been a “silly boy” for admitting that he wants to stay away from Boundary Park. Butcher has been made a scapegoat by the Latics faithful after moving to the club in June but he has now reached the end of his one-month deal at Sincil Bank and must now return to his employers at Boundary Park.

Moore said, “Apparently Richard has told someone he wants to stay at Lincoln instead of coming back to us this morning. He hasn’t done himself many favours with his comments and has been a bit of a silly boy. The fact is we’ve had no contact with Lincoln about extending the loan, so Richard has to come back here and get on with things. We’ll have a heart-to-heart, and he might end up going out on loan again if he doesn’t see his long-term future with Oldham. We are short of midfield players, but there would be no point keeping someone whose confidence is very low. Richard’s situation is unfortunate, but he should be old enough to deal with it. We’ll find out what happens in the next few days.”
