Croft departure leaves room for one more loan signing

With the departure of Lee Croft (pictured), who returns to Manchester City after a very successful loan spell, there is room for one more loan signing on the playing staff at Boundary Park. Brian Talbot is hoping to make a signing who will go straight into the squad for this evenings game at Bloomfield Road, although he admits that there is only an ‘outside chance’ that a deal can be done in time. A few clues were given away when he gave his pre-match briefing at Boundary Park when he said, “I think at the moment we need a defender. I've got two more loans to come in for the rest of the season so I've got to be careful what I do. If I could, I would like to bring a defender and a striker in but I can only bring one in at the moment. It's a young player because finance dictates wages.”

Speaking to the official site he summed up the defeat at the hands of Swindon Town as, “They were a big side and we couldn't cope with their physical presence. We're young. We're not big and although our football was good first half, we didn't take advantage of our dominance. We should have come in more than one-up and we paid the price for it. Two balls into our box, we defend poorly, and they get on the end of them and score. It's disappointing. The players have done their best today but it's a man's league. It's hard and at the end I think they looked a tired team. We looked tired second half I thought. We didn't get hold of the ball at all up front. They seemed to get a new lease of life and an extra yard. Although they didn't create that many opportunities to score, they had more of the play and we were on the back foot. There were some bright spots from Kilkenny but other than that the youngsters found it very hard.”
