Difficult decision made easy

Simon Corney (pictured) told of the difficult decision to appoint a new manager at Boundary Park. He said, "If you had said to me before the interview how I would have rated Paul, who I had met previously with the possibility of him coming here as a player, I would in all honesty not had him in the top three or four."

"But after he left the room following the interview, the four directors turned round and said that if we can get him we should do. I think he will be a breath of fresh air and he is the first manager I have had since I have been here, and there has been a few in the last five or six years, that hadn't discussed salary."

"We agreed in principle to appoint Paul and then we had a meeting when salary came up for the first time. It wasn't about money, but he wanted to have a go and to have a challenge and to make it work, and we couldn't be happier."
