Killen may be withdrawn from International duty

Latics striker Chris Killen could be spending the summer playing International football for New Zealand but the club may call a halt on proceedings to protect their £250,000 investment. Killen only made one appearance to the Latics run in to the end of the season due to an ankle injury and if the club decide that he is not fully healed they will withdraw him from the Confederations Cup, due to be played in France.

The Kiwi’s are due to meet Colombia, France and Japan in the initial rounds of the competition. Iain Dowie is hoping that the striker will have a big say in next seasons push for promotion, a goal which cruelly eluded them this time around. Killen has scored 12 goals in 17 games for the Latics and with Carlo Corazzin leaving the club, extra responsibility will be placed on the former Manchester City player.
