Latics in cash shortage

Athletic have issued a statement that they are suffering financially. The loss of the ITV Digital income and the Stock Market collapse is partly responsible for the club losing £50,000 per week. Chris Moore has been responsible for making up the shortcomings but the Stock Market situation means that his funds are now tied up and the current situation cannot continue.

Some suggestions to redress the balance are a reduction in payroll costs; assistance by way of increased support and supporter motivation; Local Authority help; help from creditors; recruitment of potential inward investors; football authorities asistance. One thing is for sure - the Latics need all the support they can and money through the turnstiles is a great starting point as it benefits the club in many areas.

Alan Hardy pleaded, “We need supporters now, in fact more than ever before. Our Financial position is very precarious and obviously we are doing everything possible at the Club to reduce costs and maximise revenues. However the best way for Latics to get back on its feet is for fans to come to the games - starting with Saturday. We would urge all supporters to bring a friend or persuade a possible lapsed supporter to come back to Boundary Park. We would like to think that the Luton Town fixture is a turning point. The team have been performing well and these are clearly exciting times but we need fans in the ground. Their support is crucial to the Club.”
