Latics on brink of liquidation!

The latest rumbles at Boundary Park are that there is a distinct danger of the club going out of business. How many times before have we heard that? News is filtering through that current owner Chris Moore is in talks with a mystery owner who could be crucial to the survival of the football club.

Iain Dowie, still awaiting his own contract said, “We are teetering on the brink and desperately in need of a massive financial investment. I have spoken to Chris a couple of times and I am well aware of how perilous the financial situation is. The whole future of the club is at stake and the situation is grim. I have heard the word liquidation mentioned and, though not a businessman, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to realise how serious the situation is.”

Dowie is even recommending potential investors to Mr. Moore and does not want his prize assets sold to save the integrity of the club. He added, “At the moment I cannot talk to any of the out-of-contract players because I have been given no budget. It looks on the brink of total collapse and unlikely I will get the chance to take the club forward. Unless there is massive investment it looks as though the team will be broken up.” Mr. Moore is no longer in a position to pump £50,000 per week into the club and the bottom line is that he could put the club into administration or liquidation, a disasterous position which could see Oldham Athletic go out of business. Keep the faith, we’ve been there before!
