Latics summoned before FA

The Latics officials have been summoned to an FA meeting at Bramhall Lane to answer a claim that their players acted in a violent and/or threatening manner at the game played in the Carling Cup match at Scunthorpe in the early season. They contested the video evidence of the 20 man brawl and the outcome was that the club was found guilty of the disorderly behaviour. The club was severely reprimanded as to it's future conduct but there was no financial penalty other than from paying the hearing costs.

Alan Hardy said of the ruling, “We felt that we received a fair and sympathetic hearing and were delighted that the commission felt that the issue was not a serious breach and decided not to implement a financial penalty on the club. However, it is up to the players to ensure that we don't have to face a similar charge in future.”

Darren Sheridan (pictured) was also summoned on a seperate charge of misconduct for his actions as he was leaving the pitch after being sent off in the same match. The Latics midfielder was found guilty and fined £250 but did not pick up any additional playing ban.
