After impressing in the game at Doncaster goalkeeper Craig Mawson will be starting Wednesday's Carling Cup 2nd. round tie against Tottenham Hotspur at Boundary Park. It will only be Mawsons third appearance for the club, his first being when he replaced Les Pogliacomi at Tranmere Rovers last week. The 25 year old keeper’s contract has been extended for another month so that he can take part in Athletics biggest game for years.

After his performance at Doncaster manager Brian Talbot said, “Craig has every reason to feel pleased with himself. It's never easy when a goalkeeper comes in for his debut, but he couldn't have done any more and was only beaten by a penalty. It was probably important that he started the game well, which happened when he caught a cross while being bundled and knocked all over the place. He also made a couple of good saves and I will be happy to keep him at the club for a while longer.”
