New plans for Boundary Park discussed

New owner Simon Corney (pictured), who is based at Boundary Park, has been talking about the future of Boundary Park and the possibility of a new state-of-the-art Lookers Stand. The new stand would be all seater and have a capacity of 6,000. After an initial outlay of £4.6 million on the ground they are expecting to develop the site to a tune of another £6 million although no timescale has been put on the development. Plans are currently being drawn up for the re-development scheme. Banqueting and conference facilities are anticipated as the new owners expect to generate revenue from the eventual scheme seven days a week.

Mr. Corney said, “Things have now started to move forward on that issue. We have seen some design plans and recognise that the construction of a new stand on the Lookers stand site is a priority. These are early stages and our first priority is to be stable on the pitch. We want to be safe in division two and then start looking at division one – there’s no point having a big stand with nobody in it. But we are eager to start work, so we’ll sit down with architects and talk about the best way forward. And there’s the rest of the land to think about developing, so we are also speaking to the council about our plans.”
