PKF hope for an extension

PKF, Athletic’s administrators, are hoping for a three week extension from the FA to allow them to put the club’s house in order. The current administration order runs to the end of September but PKF have warned, “On the basis of current funding, the administrators will be unable to allow the club to operate beyond the end of September.” What this means is that liquidation will become a reality unless there is a major injection of funds.

Trust Oldham and the business advisory group have raised a remarkable £400,000 but are still a long way off their original target of £1.2million. Barnsley and Notts County have also been under the cosh at the FA meeting and desperately need to satisfy the football authorities that they can complete their fixtures. An announcement regarding Athletic’s plight should be made today.
