Points dropped in Swindon Draw

Latics boss John Sheridan watched his side play to a goalless draw with Swindon Town and was pleased with his team's effort. Had it not been for the outstanding form of Swindon's goalkeeper they could had collected three points instead of losing two. In fairness, Swindon had chances to win it, especially at the death, but the home side easily had enough chances to seal the victory.

Latics had the majority of the second-half possession but found Swindon keeper Peter Brezovan in inspired form between the sticks. Lee Hughes, Danny Whitaker and Lewis Alessandra were all in good goalscoring positions but were denied by the outstanding form of Brezovan .

Shez told Latics World, "I thought we deserved to win the game. We played well - especially in the second half when we got right at them. Their keeper has made some great saves and we had chances. We should have won the game, no danger. I'm as disappointed as anyone that we couldn't get the three points, but their keeper kept them in the game whereas Greg Fleming has only had to make one save. The wind made things very difficult in the first half but the response in the second was very good. I can't fault the players' effort. If we can keep that level of performance up we have a very good chance of winning the game on Tuesday, which we need to do as our home form will be vital."

"I was very disappointed with some of the booing at the end of the game. Why are a few fans booing when they can see the players have done their best to win the game? I know it's only a couple of fans but they are a disgrace and they are watching a different game to me. We're still sixth in the league. It's only a couple of people - I've looked straight at them and they are out of order. They should get behind the players - they tried to win the game so give them a bit of credit."
