Ronnie Moore was singing the praises of his latest signing, 21 year old striker Chris Porter (pictured), a player that Moore considers to have “massive potential”.

Moore signed Porter up on a two year deal and said of the youngster, “I’m delighted Chris has joined us because, although he isn’t the finished article, the lad has massive potential. There’s an awful lot to work with and it’s just a matter of trying to bring all that ability out of him. He reminds me of Alan Lee, who I signed for Rotherham when he was a raw young lad and later sold on for £1million. I’m not saying the same thing will happen here, but that shows you the quality in Chris’s game. Because he’s still raw, we might need to wrap him in cotton wool for a couple of months and take him out partway through the season. But if he does the right things, there’s no reason he won’t go into the side from day one.”

Commenting on the deal with Blackpool that switched Ritchie Wellens and Scott Vernon, Moore told the official website, “That was an important deal because we needed Wellens, and I think Porter will do a better job than Vernon would have done.” Moore’s spending spree has resulted in eight new permanent faces on the staff. Gareth Owen, Rob Scott, Paul Warne, Terrell Forbes, Paul Edwards, Richard Butcher and Richie Wellens make up the others.
