Sheridan full of praise

Latics boss John Sheridan was full of praise after the Latics drew 0-0 at Nottingham Forest. The Latics did enough to have won the match and it was a much better performance than of late. The only downside to the game was that Neil Kilkenny had to leave the game with cramp towards the end.

Sheridan said, "Touch wood, we can use this result to kick ourselves forward and start winning a few more games. It's going to be very hard to repeat what we did last season, but I still believe we can do it. The players need to believe as well, but they should be happy with their performance because I'm proud of what they did. They have gone away to a very strong and organised team and matched them in all departments, or even played better, for a good 70 or 80 minutes."

"A lot of people would have looked at the game and expected three points for Forest, but if we keep up that level of performance we'll soon be moving up the table. It was a decent game for 0-0 and we created some very good opportunities to nick a goal. Unfortunately we didn't put any away, but we made them with good football and we'll soon be winning games if we can just get in the habit of scoring goals. I'm disappointed we only drew in the end, but we've been in the bottom four and under a bit of pressure. The lads put their bodies on the line and I thought they were brilliant."
