The Latics could be in line for a windfall from a sell-on clause after Burnley have stepped up their interest in ex-Latics' player James Tarkowski. Brentford initially turned down £2.3million bid from the Clarets but Burnley have countered with a £3m + offer.
Tarkowski is 23 years old and any deal would include an undisclosed fee paid to Athletic in addition to a top-up after Brentford won promotion to the Championship. The sell-on clause is expected to be 10% of the total which could equate to a sum in excess of £250,000.
